Monday the 9th was our sign shops 30th anniversary. We finished our new shop sign that we had been building on and off for the last several weeks in between getting paying jobs out the door.
Every time we work on projects for our own business, we try new things. We even use it as an opportunity to test new materials and new ways of building. For obvious reasons we avoid doing this on paying jobs.

This particular sign had been there for 24 years. Rather then tearing it down and rebuilding a brand new one, we would simply build over top of the existing sign. The signs underneath were still in good shape. But we felt like if we continued on this route we were forced to build the sign a certain way. This would have been our 4th “layer”
So instead we decided to start from scratch unbound by the layers of the past. We ripped all of the sign down, leaving only the 4×4 posts. It was interesting for me to peel back layers of sign to see the older signs underneath, and with it, a huge part of our company’s identity at that time. It was like going back in a time machine.
